The music of FLIEGER is danceable; Manuel Schulz loves modern pop sounds and grooves. At the same time, the songs stay mainstream, with tunes and hooklines that can be sung along. There are traces of rock and chanson influences to be discovered.

Carl Maibach's lyrics reflect the highlights that life has to offer, the euphoria of succeeding, falling in love, new beginnings, as well as the moments of doubt, farewell, reflection. Occasionally there are flashes of biting humour. But they always keep a confident distance from the idyllic world of German Schlager songs.

The collaboration of the two musicians began around 1994, when singer/songwriter Carl Maibach succeeded in winning over Manuel Schulz as lead guitarist for his rock band SHOCKING BAG. Together they played numerous gigs in Berlin and other German states, but soon also began to work as a duo on Maibach's German-language songs.

In 1997(?) they released a first MC, but this project was interrupted when Manuel Schulz left Berlin. He eventually settled in Bern, devoted himself to his solo projects and built his own studio (SCK-Records Studios).

However, the ties between the friends did not break. In 2009 they resumed work on their project FLIEGER. From then on, the sound recordings were sent back and forth between Berlin and Bern by mail and internet, until the guys came together in Bern in January 2011 to finish the final mix of the 9 songs for their CD Was Neues in Manuel's studio.
